The Music Focus 🎸 Collection

A newsletter of music-first content. Any genre. Send recommendations!

New: Music Resources 🎼
⇒ Posts • Articles • Models and Tools

I've created collections for every other type. No promises yet what I'll do with those exactly, but they're like a bookmark I'll slowly start to add things to as I find them.

Background

Recently I'm having a blast generating music video clips like these.

But Civitai and discovery, you know how it is. Especially this music-first idea doesn't have great tags to search for or a dedicated section. So I want to see and hear what you all can do!

The mission

Think of the collection as a music newsletter for Civitai. A way to discover new tracks from creators you love, people you didn't know made songs, and creative ways to use music.

I want to keep it broad and inclusive. It's not an "only the best" showcase, but it's not an "anything goes" free feature either. I want to hear the creative effort you put into it.

Share your work / finds!

Leave a comment with a link to great stuff you found out there. What I'm looking for.

Music is the main focus; Close your eyes and listen to it 🎧, does it stand on its own as a good track? No dialog or sound effects that disrupt the music.

Video is optional; A placeholder image just to upload it is totally fine 👍

Any genre or length; From campfire love songs to deathcore.

Significant AI use; Music doesn't have to be AI-made. Your own non-AI music, remixes and even copyrighted samples are fine, so long as it's a good-faith creative effort within the law. AI should still play a significant part somewhere, not necessarily in the music. Editing allowed.

Remixing; Be transparent about what you're remixing, give attribution, and bring your own twist.

Quality; I'm looking for solid tracks. Obvious glitching or stuttering artifacts or incoherent audio not added. But some amount of visual artifacts get a pass, since this is music-first.

Posted on Civitai; No links to youtube/spotify/etc.

PG / PG-13 rated; Both the audio and imagery should be SFW.
If the rating system gave clearly SFW work the wrong rating, share it anyway. When in doubt, I'll lean towards safe. Good music can hold its own without having to be spicy.

Self-promote or feature others; You can link your own work if it fits this collection. And you can shout out great other creators on the platform.

How I collect

I may pass on songs that:

• are repetitive, formulaic, low quality or low effort (slop)

• take shortcuts by using other people's music or ideas

• aren't transparent about remixing

• sing gibberish in a nonsense language

New to AI music and struggle to get a good result? Study the people in this collection, or ask them how they do it.

Buzz begging / Civitai meta; It's often fun and very creative, but it breaks the fourth wall, so I'll add it only occasionally.

Repeatedly adding creators; Keep things fresh and I'll probably collect a lot of your work. If you're stuck on the same thing, I'll collect less and less. If you post really fast, I may skip some songs so occasional posters don't get drowned out, especially if you already have a following.

Help me out

Really hoping you'll help me find the other great stuff out there. 🎶🎧

I'll keep a lookout but I'm counting on your comments 💬

Always happy to hear from you, happy or unhappy feedback, see what you're up to and find new tracks. Unsure if you're "within the rules"? Just send it 😄 I'll happily take a look.
