Version 7.77 is indeed significantly better with backgrounds, but it has lost detail in outfits and characters. Furthermore, the Checkpoint attempts to combine a realistic style with the thick lines of the anime/cartoon style in a strange way, which ultimately just looks weird. The colors also appear too realistic, resulting in a somewhat dull and washed-out look. Overall, I preferred version 6.9, primarily because of its better and more accurate character and outfit depictions.
